Megan Cui

Speaker

Megan Cui is a senior at Mason High School and the executive director/co-founder of Mason Hack Club (a chapter of the international Hack Club organization), a community-centered, corporate-supported coding club that aims to spread technology literacy. Heavily involved in the Cincinnati technology scene, Megan co-founded and led CincyHacks, Cincinnati's first high school hackathon, completely free of cost to attendees. Additionally, a strong proponent for giving youth a voice through computer literacy, Megan ran a summer coding Hack Camp in 2017 and 2018 with the Mason Hack Club team, teaching 150+ students the basics of web development and ReactJS while raising over $20,000 to fund club volunteering and outreach programs.

Johnothon Sauer

Speaker

Johnothon Sauer is the Head of the mathematics department at William Mason High School. The 2018-2019 school year will be his 18th year at Mason High School and his 29th year of teaching. He earned his B.S.Ed. from The Ohio State University, taking courses that led to his certification to teach mathematics and music in grades 7-12. He subsequently earned his M.A.T. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from The University of Cincinnati. He and his wife have been married for 28 years. They have four children ranging in age from 26 to 16.

Anvi Arora

Speaker

Anvi is a rising junior at Mason High School. Born in London, she has lived in Arizona, Texas, and just recently moved to Ohio in 2017. At school, Anvi is part of Model United Nations, the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and the school orchestra. Outside of school, Anvi enjoys traveling and watching movies.

Kaavya Ramachandhran

Speaker

Kaavya Ramachandhran is a rising senior with an alarmingly long last name. Being a huge nerd for graphic design, writing, animation, and computer science, she is just a little anxious about choosing a college major. She has a weakness for mechanical pencils and 8-bit music. She also has a little sister who's cooler than her. The concept of giving a TEDx talk both excites and terrifies Kaavya immensely, which she hopes her spectators will find entertaining. 

Lacy Starling 

Speaker

Lacy Starling is the CEO and Fearless Leader of Legion Logistics. Since starting Legion in the basement of her house in 2009, Lacy has indeed fearlessly led the company to incredible success, including three appearances on the Inc. 500/5000 list and two appearances on the Top 10 Fastest-Growing Women-Led Companies in the world list. Individually, she was honored as a 2015 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year and included in the 2015 Class of the Business Courier’s Forty Under 40. Legion is now a $279 million company with 32 employees. Lacy also finds time to teach sales as an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati and facilitate several sales intensives for local business incubators and accelerators.

Katie Moseley

Speaker

Katie Moseley is a senior at Mason High School. Outside of her love for medical science , she is incredibly passionate about social sciences. Issues surrounding gender violence- sexual assault, domestic violence, relationship abuse, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of children- have become deeply rooted in our society. Katie believe that the first step towards alleviating and ultimately eradicating these problems lies in discussing and confronting the bystander mentality that has allowed the continuation of said gender violence. 

Khaula Sawah

Speaker

Dr. Khaula Sawah, a Doctor of Pharmacy graduate from University of Kentucky and a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, is a clinical/ staff pharmacist who has been working at different local hospitals, including UC Hospital. Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011, she has been dedicating most of her time in medical missions to support the Syrian people affected by the crisis in Syria and Turkey. Dr Sawah has served as an Executive Director and a Board Member on several nonprofit organizations, and is a cofounder of Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations. She is currently the Lead of UOSSM in USA and until recently was the Chair of UOSSM Quality Assurance Committee; ensuring Quality and Accountability in the medical services provided by the Organization

Dylan Firlie

Performer

Dylan Firlie is a musician and teacher with a Bachelor of Music from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM) under the directions of Dr. Yim and Professors Milewski and Pegis. He is now working diligently towards achieving his Master's in violin performance under the direction of Giora Schmidt. Outside of school, Dylan teaches and plays for several orchestras including the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tim Mettey

Tim Mettey is the CEO of Matthew 25: Ministries, which is an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization helping the poorest or the poor and disaster victims. They provide basic necessities, nutritional supplements, educational materials, building supplies, medical care, community development and disaster relief across the US and worldwide. Matthew 25: Ministries is top-ranked among over 2,000 4-star charities by Charity Navigator and has been ranked by Forbes.com as one of the most efficient large US charities.  Matthew 25: Ministries was awarded the "Best Charities in America" seal from the Independent Charities of America and is accredited by the Better Business Bureau through the "Wise Giving Alliance Standards". He is also the author of the Hero Chronicles -- aimed for junior high and high school readers and advocates for literacy and education worldwide.

Katrina Cornish

Speaker

Katrina Cornish, Ph.D., is a global expert on alternate rubber and latex production, processing and products with more than 30 years working with rubber biosynthesis and alternative feedstocks in the Government, Commercial and University sectors. She is the Ohio Research Scholar and Endowed Chair in Bioemergent Materials at The Ohio State University, a fellow of the National academy of Inventors and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She leads a program on alternate rubber production, bio-based fillers and fibers, and exploitation of opportunity feedstocks from agriculture and food processing wastes for value-added products and biofuels and has >240 papers and ~20 patents.

Nicholas Twine

Speaker

Nicholas is a graduate researcher at the University of Cincinnati in the Novel Devices Lab where research is being conducted at the cutting edge of biotechnology. Their research is cross-disciplinary, ranging from Microfluidics to Biology, Electronics to Chemistry, and will revolutionize the healthcare industry by providing reliable research to guide industry development of on-body, continuous monitoring sensors

Alena Firlie

Performer

Alena Firlie is a musician, actor, and songwriter who is a alum of Mason High School and Leaves of Learning. Her current favorite composer is Brahms, her favorite color is green, and her least favorite vegetable is Zucchini. This year, she is finishing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Northern Kentucky University in Acting with an emphasis on movement-based techniques under the supervision of Corrie Danieley. In her free-time, Alena spends her days working and directing a new classical theater group- The Queen Mab's Players in downtown Cincinnati.
